Jack McBrayer plays southern simpleton Kenneth the Page on 30 Rock, and though his character is the epitome of the perfect assistant on television, real pages aren’t as impressed.
McBrayer has heard that some pages make a point of telling visitors on the NBC tour that their job is nothing like what he portrays on the Emmy-winning comedy.
He says, “They’re like, ‘We’re real people, not just characters.’ I think I’m single- handedly bringing down the page program.”
McBrayer might raise the bar too high for other runners because he has his own secret for making Kenneth seem like the perfect punching bag.
McBrayer admits, “Sometimes I have to have a lot of caffeine to be that peppy at god-awful hours of the morning. I’m like, ‘Daddy needs a nap.’ That’s where Diet Mountain Dew comes in.”
The newest season of 30 Rock premieres tomorrow (Oct. 15) on NBC.
