San Francisco-based artist Justine Lai has made it her mission to have sex with every American president in history – at least on canvas – with her art series Join Or Die.
Lai’s artwork features herself making passionate, and sometimes kinky love to the likes of Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and John Adams.
Through her work, Lai attempts to “penetrate” the presidential institution by placing herself within the leaders’ most private sexual moments.
By doing so, she believes she’s “subverting authority” and making both sexual parties vulnerable human beings.
But Lai wants her paintings to be more than just “lurid and hardcore” pornographic pieces or symbols that say “Fþck the man.”
Instead, she wants to show her sexcapades with each president as something “playful and tender” in order to make them seem like real people and not just historical figures.
