Talking on the phone while dropping a deuce may seem like a no-no to some, but potty etiquette expert Michael Sykes – president of the International Center For Bathroom Etiquette – says it’s not so taboo to poo while on the john.
He explains that chatting on the toilet should be limited to close friends and family because they’ll love you regardless. But even then, it’s a case by case basis.
Sykes advises serial phone dumpers to bring up the topic in conversation outside the bathroom to gauge just who in their inner circle is down with toilet talk.
In any case, he stresses that it’s only okay to chat and crap when “camping” on the porcelain throne.
He explains, “If you’re causing a disaster in the bathroom, it’s not conversation time. When you’re camping out, just taking your time in there, that’s when you can talk.”
