Workout Wonder: Chasing Monsters

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Pretending to chase imaginary cryptids is the best way to get fit.

The latest workout craze getting folks in San Francisco off their couches is CryptoZoo, in which groups of adventurous, energized people run after make-believe monsters through the urban jungle.

Players get clues on where to find strange beasts like the “Ninja Rabbit,” “Wobble Lope,” and “Summit Monkey,” and have to go on mile-long adventures that require running, jumping, swinging, and skipping just like the fabled monsters.

Creator Jane McGonigal paired up with the American Heart Association to perfect the high-endurance game because it turns staying fit and healthy into an experience.

She says, “CryptoZoo sneaks physical activity and fun into your normal life. It’s exhausting running in funny, strange ways, but it turns out to be a big, sweaty adventure.”
