‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Actor Gives Newbies A Break

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Tomorrow (Apr. 4), Grey’s Anatomy actor James Pickens, Jr. will be on the other side of the audition table.

Pickens – who plays TV doctor Richard Webber on Grey’s – is holding an open casting call in at the Lula Washington Dance Theatre in Los Angeles for all who want to be part of his musical, Otis Sallid’s Gospel! Gospel! Gospel!, which opens this May.

Pickens wants to give newcomers the “opportunity of a lifetime,” and is looking for talent with serious singing chops.

He too, will star in the play, but admits, “The only singing I do is in the shower!”

Pickens started his acting career on Broadway and admits that theatre is his “first love.”

However, with a busy TV shooting schedule, he doesn’t always have time to get back to his stage roots.

Pickens says he’s never entertained the thought of combining his two worlds by creating a Grey’s Anatomy musical, but laughs, “That would be great! We’d have to find someone with a good voice to play me.”
