According to Susan Bain of cheap-chic-weddings.com, the poor economy is spurring an inexpensive wedding trend.
This means cheap, simple nuptials are considered much cooler than extravagant, over-the-top weddings, which many brides deem obnoxious these days.
Bain argues, Its cool to be cheap, the stigma is gone.
Although it may seem stressful trying to get hitched during an economic downturn, Bain says its the best time to negotiate with stingy vendors and get services at a fraction of the regular cost.
She says, Grow some nerve and ask for discounts. People are hurting for business right now, so dont be scared to haggle.
Bain believes the recession is also conducive to weddings because guests can all relate to the tough times and wont be as critical about thrifty receptions.
To cut costs, she suggests downsizing the guest list, marrying during an off-season, and even making your own dress.
