Grandma Beauty Pageant Subject To Bribery, Drag Queens

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Miss America is a total snoozefest compared to a wild beauty pageant that’s solely for grandmas.

The 7th Annual Your Highness Grandma Beauty Pageant takes place in Brooklyn this Friday (Nov. 7), featuring contestants ages 39 to 96.

Creator Raisa Chernina says the senior beauty queens will do anything it takes to win the crown, including bribing the judges – who are all grandpas – with cakes, fruit baskets, and homecooked meals.

Just like a typical pageant, the grannies showcase their talents on stage. Past acts have included grandmas doing yoga, playing violin, tap dancing, and a group hula-hooping session.

One time, a group of three grandmas and a 70-something-year- old drag queen performed a rendition of Swan Lake as their talent.

Instead of an evening gown round the grandmas usually participate in a “housedress competition” where they sport their best moo-moos.

This year, the golden girls are being asked to wear their most interesting hats as they strut on stage.

Chernina says prizes will be awarded to all grannies, including travel packages, sewing machines, bedspreads, and jewelry.
