The actors who play techie BFFs Chuck Bartowski [Levi] and Morgan Grimes [Gomez] on the comedy spy series have a unique, painful way of dealing with abrupt bursts of laughter: They beat each other up.
Every time one of them cracks up unexpectedly during a take, the other slaps him in the face to get him to stop laughing.
Gomez explains, If a scene is taking more than four or five takes because were laughing too much, we start slapping each other. It really surprises and frightens the crew because the slaps are real, loud, and hard. I swear, this kids [Levi] got mitts on him!
Levi adds, The pain really helps take away the happies.
Levi is thankful for the scenes where his back is turned to the camera, because then he can lose it without getting slapped.
However, Gomez jokes that the scrapping may never end, and an onscreen fight is inevitably next.
The second season of Chuck premieres September 29 on NBC.
