Flea Trainer Jumps Through Hoops For Pets

REDLANDS, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One flea trainer gives blood, sweat, and tears for his hoppin’ profession.

Walt Noon and his arsenal of circus fleas know how to put on a good show, and he trains them to accomplish great feats of strength and danger.

Noon says it takes around two weeks for a flea to master death-defying stunts like high-dives, chariot racing, and walking on a highwire, and more than a little blood.

He says, “I keep them well fed so they will perform. Their only food source is blood so I let them feed on my arm.”

Noon says training fleas can be a frustrating job, since the critters only live about eight months, which means he’s constantly training new performers.

Keeping them alive is tough too because fleas need warm temperature and humidity to stay hoppin’, so he keeps the bugs in a cozy vial strapped to his leg.

Noon says, “Fleas have been my labor of love and obsession for 12 years. Everyone thinks I’m crazy, but I love it.”
