Domestic Divas Form Rock Band, Sing About Babysitters

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Being a housewife rocks!

It’s The Housewives! is a comic rock musical about a trio of homemakers who form a band for their PTA talent show and go on to become legends of domestic rock ’n’ roll.

Musician Laurence Juper – former lead guitarist for Paul McCartney’s band Wings – composed the songs in the play alongside his wife, writer Hope Juber.

The songs include “Be My Babysitter,” a rockin’ ode to finding the perfect childcare specialist, “It Sucks,” a song about vacuum cleaners, and “Erica, You Bitch,” a scathing ditty about daytime’s most notorious soap diva, Erica Kane [Susan Lucci].

Juber says the songs reflect his own experiences as a “househusband,” and one jam in particular brings him back to his daunting days of domestic duty.

“Pledge or Behold” is a song about the difficulty of choosing the right household products, a task he’s always dreaded.

He says, “When there’s 10 million kinds of toothpaste at the store, I panic. It’s hard to make the right choice. This is a protest song about that anxiety.”

It’s The Housewives! runs Saturday (Sep. 6) through October 12 at Whitefire Theater in Sherman Oaks, California.
