Hey, Norway! Listen To This!

MALMO, Sweden (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One weird art installation lets you tell a village in Norway whatever’s on your mind.

The Telemegaphone is a 22-foot-tall pole with a loudspeaker attached to it that stands atop a mountain in the village of Dale, Norway.

By calling 011-47-90-369-389, anyone in the world can have their voice blasted throughout the entire area.

According to co-creator Erik Sandelin, callers have gotten creative with their messages.

He says, “Some people use it to call loved ones in Dale, call cows home from the mountain, or to sing. I like to call and make animal sounds.”

Though he didn’t create the piece to “wake people up in the middle of the night,” Sandelin expects some people will call with obnoxious messages when they’re drunk.

But he doesn’t think the drunk dials will get out of control.

He explains, “If you leave something out in the open like that, people don’t misuse it as much. There aren’t any rules to break, there’s no room for vandalism.”
