Grover From ‘Sesame Street’ Invented The Internet

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The Internet is a worldwide phenomenon, and believe it or not, it was invented by a peppy, blue monster.

According to Grover – an iconic character on the kid’s series Sesame Street – he’s actually the mastermind behind the Internet, although in it’s initial stages, it wasn’t always what it is today.

Grover says, “I invented the Internet, but I didn’t call it Internet at first. I called it Phyllis. I don’t know why Phyllis never caught on. It rolls off the tongue better than Internet.”

Grover enjoys surfing the web, especially sesamestreet.org, a site for pre-schoolers that includes videos and fun educational games.

He adds, “I like seeing my friends on the computer! I love my friends.”

Besides the web, Grover enjoys other forms of entertainment found right on Sesame Street, including his job as a restaurant service worker, hanging out with celebrity guests, and special TV shows.

Grover says, “I like a show called Are You Smarter Than An Egg Layer and Pre-school Musical!

The 39th season of Sesame Street premieres today (Aug. 11) on PBS Kids.
