At least thats what a collection of watercolors by New York-based artist Mark Chamberlain depicts.
His whacky watercolors show Batman and Robin locking lips, passionately embracing, and getting caught doing the deed, all while going about their daily crime fighting.
Chamberlain created the art after he began thinking about all of the longstanding, homoerotic undertones that circle the comic book duo.
He explains, Batman and Robin are always together, have secret identities, and sport fetish wear. Many researchers believe that Batgirl was only brought into the comics to break them up.
Chamberlain says the concepts in his watercolors of falling in love, falling out of love, and pining are something anyone can relate to, gay or not.
Although lawyers at DC Comics were at one point ready to rumble over the erotic art, he speculates that theyve piped down due to the massive gay rights movement over the last few years.
With The Dark Knight hitting theaters this summer, Chamberlain may go back to the drawing board and come up with some new Batman-inspired art.
