Boston Drummer Schools His Way To Stardom

STANDISH, Maine (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Boston drummer Jeff Neal has a hard-rocking history.

Every summer since 2002, Jeff Neal, a 10th grade U.S. History teacher in Standish, Maine, has tucked away his textbooks and hit the road as the drummer for the classic rock heavyweights, Boston.

Neal doesn’t flaunt his rock-star status in school, though he admits his sweet summer gig gives him “instant credibility” with his students.

But Neal’s rocking summer job doesn’t mean he’s a pushover.

He says, “Kids have a perception of how I’ll be, and they try to get away with things. I might be a rock and roll drummer, but you still gotta do your homework!”

Neal gets tips for history lessons from his tour bus travels, but he tries not to school his band buddies.

He says, “I’ll go somewhere like the Alamo and do personal research. But I don’t want to be the book geek in the band.”

Neal and Boston start their summer tour June 6 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. For more info, go to
