The fashion maven is a judge for the Yaz Step Up and Go Beyond contest, happening now until June 30, in which amateur designers create a new and improved look for birth control pill packs.
The winning designer will get a $5,000 fashion education grant.
Garcia says, Birth control packs are very personal and connected to women, but have been ignored for a long time. Theyre out there on your night stand or in your purse, so why not make them more chic and fashionable?
According to Garcia, a stylish pill pack should be discreet and functional, and have a lot of creativity behind the design.
But no matter how fierce the packs look, they wont be gracing fashion runways anytime soon.
Garcia says, I dont know about them ever being the new fashion accessory, but women will feel a little bit cooler about carrying their pill pack.
