Elizabeth Berkley Knows About Bad Critiques

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Elizabeth Berkley knows all about bad reviews, and she’s sympathizing with a group of critiqued reality show contestants.

Berkley – who was given scathing, awful reviews for her risque work in the cheesy 1995 flick Showgirls – is hosting a reality TV dance competition on Bravo called Step It Up & Dance, and feels for the contestants who are constantly critiqued by judges.

Although Berkley doesn’t dish out any tough reviews herself, she’s always discussing the dancers’ strengths and weaknesses with the judges – quietly, that is.

Berkley says, “I pray to God every time that the contestants don’t hear us! I have a lot of compassion for what they’re going through because I’ve been on the receiving end of negative criticism. It doesn’t feel good.”

She believes dancers are better at bouncing back from rough remarks than actors.

She explains, “Dancers are tough and very disciplined. They’re used to assimilating quickly and dealing with criticism.”

Step It Up & Dance airs Thursdays on Bravo.
