‘My Name Is Earl’ Gets An ‘Amen’ From Devout Fans

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – My Name Is Earl is getting divine praise from church going fans.

According to series creator Greg Garcia, My Name Is Earl – which centers on karma and a lowlife man [Earl Hickey played by Jason Lee] who’s trying to right his wrongs – has garnered a surprisingly holy fan following.

Garcia has been approached by fans of Earl who enjoy the message of the show so much, they think about it on Sundays at church.

He explains, “I’ve had fans tell me they were at church and heard a sermon that talked about My Name Is Earl, because the show is about redemption. That’s always fun to hear.”

Although taking Earl to church is, in Garcia’s words, “Pretty cool,” he says the show’s first goal is to make people laugh and roll out interesting comedic storylines.

My Name is Earl returns to NBC with new episodes tomorrow night (Apr. 3).
