Christine Gallagher is the author of books like The Womans Book Of Revenge (Citadel) and The Womans Book Of Divorce (Citadel), and runs divorcepartyplanner.com, a site that helps divorcees plan parties to celebrate their newfound freedom.
Gallagher says although divorce is a sad and difficult situation, you must pull it together and move on, and a divorce party is the perfect way to start anew.
And she has some fun, festive divorce party ideas.
For example, Gallagher suggests throwing themed parties like a lemon party, where everything from the drinks to the decor is lemon-related to remind you that when life hands your lemons, make lemonade.
A split-themed party is also a good way to honor D-Day. You can serve goodies like banana splits or split pea soup, and play empowering tracks like Johnny Nashs I Can See Clearly Now, and Kelly Clarksons Since U Been Gone.
For party activities, Gallagher says you could throw darts at a picture of your ex or play a game of pin the tail on your ex.
And if you really want to celebrate surviving your difficult divorce, try throwing a Survivor party, with coconut bras, sushi, and Gloria Gaynors jam I Will Survive.
