Jeffrey Tambor Gets Familiar With New Quirky Character

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor Jeffrey Tambor had no problem getting familiar with his latest TV persona.

Tambor – best known for his role in Arrested Development – plays a quirky, know-it-all tenant named Uncle Saul who lives in a fabled Hollywood apartment building in the new CBS comedy, Welcome To The Captain.

And becoming Uncle Saul was easy for Tambor, especially because the character reminded him of his dad, uncles, and other “tough but hilarious” family members.

Tambor explains, “My character is a mix of all my uncles and my dad, so it’s very fun to play. I grew up in a very strict Russian-Jewish-Hungarian family, so I brought some of that into Uncle Saul.”

But the best part about Tambor’s new persona is his wardrobe.

When Tambor was a kid, his parents always made him dress up for dinner, but his new character doesn’t have to practice those clothing constraints.

Tambor says, “He gets to wear whatever he wants to dinner! And I even get to keep my beard!”

Welcome To The Captain premieres February 4 on CBS.
