The CitiKitty toilet training kit includes a plastic training seat with removable rings that you slip over the toilet, so that as Fluffy gets more comfortable on the pot, the training seat is adjusted until eventually your cat is able to sit on the regular toilet seat.
Inventor Rebecca Rescate invented the kitty kit after successfully toilet training her 12-year-old cat Samantha, and realizing that if cat owners stop using litter boxes it will help the environment, since kitty litter is nonbiodegradeable and pollutes the Earth.
Depending on your cats personality, Rescate says the typical feline takes about four to six weeks to toilet train, and even if youre cat is set in its litter ways, its still possible to teach an old cat new toilet tricks.
Rescate explains, If you train cats gradually, theyll adapt just fine.
And while it seems that Fluffy could fall in the toilet, Rescate says the potty peril could be avoided by following one simple rule of paw: Keep the toilet seat down!
She says, Cats can typically walk on very small surfaces, but leaving the seat down makes it easier for them to balance while going to the bathroom. Cats are like women; they want the toilet seat down.
