The Butterball Turkey Talkline is dishing out some delicious advice for Thanksgiving, and the 55 bird bakers manning the phones know their stuffing.
The talkline, which has been running for 27 years, takes up to 12,000 calls on Thanksgiving Day alone, and according to director Mary Clingman, the calls can get pretty bird-brained.
She says, I had one off-the-wall call where a man had cut his turkey in half with a chainsaw and wanted to check if the chainsaws oil would affect the turkey.
Luckily, the hotlines basting babes are ready for any turkey trouble, because they all have a degree from the Butterball University, which trains the counselors in different cooking methods.
And the gobble gabbers have some backup if they need to save your Turkey Day.
Clingman says, Last year some firehouses put our number up on their marquees, and poison control gives out our number too. We want to save your turkey, and ultimately, your Thanksgiving.
