Captain & Tennille Reflect On Their Groovy 70s Style

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Grammy-winning pop duo Captain & Tennille are reliving their groovy memories one polyester suit at a time.

Daryl “Captain” Dragon and Toni Tennille have just released their rare 1970s TV music specials Captain & Tennille Songbook, Captain & Tennille in Hawaii, and Captain & Tennille in New Orleans, on DVD and they’ve had a blast looking back at the past.

Says Tennille: “We haven’t watched the specials since we actually recorded them, so it’s been kind of weird watching them 30 years later. We cringe at the silly sketches and bad jokes, but most of all, we can’t believe some of the outfits we wore. They’re just terrible!”

Dragon adds, “It’s almost like you’re watching someone else. I had forgotten how awkward I was on TV. I had never fronted a band before Captain & Tennille and I was learning to be an entertainer in front of a national audience. I look petrified half of the time!”

And while the 70s clothing and humor may be a bit outdated, the message of the variety TV specials isn’t.

Tennille explains, “It takes you back to a simpler time, when cheesy jokes and good music were entertaining to people. We can see why some people loved us and why others thought we were stupid.”
