On the Spike TV mini-series, The Kill Point, Leguizamo plays an American Iraq War Veteran, and in the midst of researching for his role, he spent some time eating a home-cooked meal with real life vets.
Leguizamo says, I didnt want to discredit war veterans in the series, so I talked to some vets one night about their experiences and they offered to cook me dinner. We ate together and the whole time I was thinking, I cant believe they risked their lives for me and theyre still cooking me dinner. I should be cooking for them!
But even though Leguizamo had fun gettin chummy with the vets, he still was a bit nervous while eating their home-cooked meal.
He adds, They cooked some London broil and it was great, but even if I didnt like it, I wouldve eaten it anyway. When youre eating something a soldier makes for you, youve gotta love it no matter what!
The Kill Point series finale airs this Sunday (Aug. 26).
