Andy Samberg Tests His Hot Rod Skills

SAN DIEGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor Andy Samberg plays a wannabe stuntman in the new comedy, Hot Rod, but he wasn’t exactly Evel Knievel during filming.

Samberg – who’s currently a cast member on Saturday Night Live – admits he didn’t perform all his own stunts for the film, especially the ones that required flying through the air.

Says Samberg: “I did a healthy chunk of my own stunts and got pretty banged up, but the producers didn’t want me to get seriously injured, so I couldn’t do everything. Anytime my character is airborne or getting crunched into something, it’s not me, it’s a stunt double.”

Still, Samberg was able to find time to put the pedal to the medal.

He adds, “I’d never ridden a motorbike before, so I had fun shooting the scenes where I just cruise. Jorma [Taccone] and I shot a lot of our own footage of us screaming, ‘Stunt!’ and then kicking up dirt with the bike. It was hilarious!”

Hot Rod zooms into theaters August 3rd.
