‘High School Musical’ Star Is A Real Overachiever

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actress Monique Coleman plays an overachieving brainiac on Disney Channel’s High School Musical, and in real life, she’s a lot like her on-screen character.

Coleman – who reprises her role as preppy Decathlon Team president Taylor McKessie on High School Musical 2, premiering August 17th – says her character’s ambitious nature is pretty spot-on with her real-life personality.

Says Coleman: “I’ve got the same overachiever attitude as Taylor, and I’ve been like that my whole life. I mean, when I was four years old I was wondering why I didn’t have my driver’s license yet. I’m always pretty determined – whether it’s nailing all the moves during High School Musical rehearsal or trying to get to the dry cleaners to pick up my clothes!”

And while her ambitious attitude is reminiscent of her on- screen character, Coleman admits she’s not quite as brainy as her scripted self.

She explains, “I’m so awful at science and math it’s actually embarrassing. When I watch that show Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader I usually lose pretty bad!”
