Parenting Guru Lets His Kid Dress Up Like A Superhero

SANTA FE, N.M. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A dad-turned-author in Santa Fe, New Mexico, says it’s okay to let your kids dress up like superheroes – even in public.

Proud papa Robert Wilder has written a book called Daddy Needs A Drink (Delta), where he talks about the joys and struggles of fatherhood, including how he deals with his six- year-old son’s love of superheroes.

Turns out, Wilder’s son loves superheroes so much that he dresses up in full hero costumes, including a green, muscular Incredible Hulk suit on a daily basis.

But Wilder doesn’t mind his son’s unique wardrobe choice – in fact, he embraces it.

Says Wilder: “It’s how he feels comfortable, so I don’t mind letting him express himself. If he wants to be the Hulk, that’s fine by me.”

But not everyone understands Wilder’s costume policy, especially when he takes his kids with him to art galleries and poetry readings.

He adds, “When my kid walks into a poetry reading looking like a lumpy, green monster, most people think it’s cute, but some people just stare and don’t understand.”
