New ‘Monopoly’ Game Is Out Of This World

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The world’s most popular board game is about to get some universal respect – literally.

To commemorate the launch of the new ‘Here & Now’ edition of Monopoly, two sets of game pieces from the legendary family pastime will enter the final frontier aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis tonight (June 8).

And while the astronauts may be floating in zero gravity, space center officials ensure the new updated play pieces – including a Starbuck’s cup and a Toyota Prius – won’t be lost in space.

Space Center Houston’s Roger Bernstein ensures the tokens will be kept in a safe, locked compartment, and he adds, “We did a chemical analysis on them to make sure they were environmentally safe.”

Unfortunately, the astronauts won’t be able to colonize any new property and play Monopoly in space, as the game itself will have to skip this turn.

Says Bernstein, “Due to flight restrictions, the game didn’t pass ‘Go.”’
