Even Travel Gurus Get Homesick

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Samantha Brown scours the world in her Passport series on the Travel Channel, but even the spunky travel queen gets homesick once in a while.

Brown – whose latest adventure, Passport To Latin America, premieres Wednesday (June 6) – says traveling for months at a time makes her yearn to be back home in New York.

Says Brown: “I miss my house, my bed, and my cat – but I miss leftovers the most. I just like cooking things for myself and cleaning up my own kitchen, so when I can’t do that, I get homesick.”

But Brown has figured out how to cure her ailment while traveling.

She explains, “Even if I’m staying in a five-star hotel with amazing food, I’ll still sometimes buy a loaf of bread with some peanut butter and jelly and make my own sandwich so I feel like I’m home. I also make my own bed in really nice hotels like I would at home. Hotel housekeepers love me!”

Still, feeling homesick in foreign countries has been good for Brown, since in her words, “I’ve learned to work through my occasional loneliness, and make friends while I travel, which is always fun!”
