Comedian Bill Bellamy Knows How To Handle Hecklers

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Comedian Michael Richards lost his cool last year when he was heckled by his stand-up audience, but funny man Bill Bellamy has a better way of dealing with rowdy hecklers.

Bellamy – best known for his work on Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam and Fastlane – says every good comedian goes through their share of taunting, but says the way he handled his worst heckling incident was by making even more jokes.

Bellamy recalls doing a stand-up routine where a particularly “wild, rude woman” in the audience began heckling him, but he kept his composure and fired a joke right at her.

Says Bellamy: “That woman was so annoying I just looked at her and said, ‘Look lady, I’m trying to do my job. Do I ever come to the strip club and put oil on the pole?’ After that the crowd went crazy and she sat down and shut up real fast. I have no idea where that joke came from so quickly but it was hilarious!”

Bellamy gets a chance to give rookie comedians some pointers as the host of Last Comic Standing 5 which premieres June 13.
