Matt Hasselbeck Tempting Fate With Chunky Soup Curse

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is taking a risk with his career – by renewing his contract with Campbell's Chunky Soup.

That’s the word from sports writer Dan Lewis, who says there’s “Chunky Soup Curse” that mysteriously causes NFL players to get injured after they film commercials for Campbell’s Chunky Soup.

Previous victims of the curse include Donovan McNabb, Kurt Warner and Hasselbeck himself.

Last year, Hasselbeck did commercials and had a serious concussion that knocked him out for a month, and fellow endorser, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger also suffered a string of injuries.

Campbell's has repeatedly pooh-poohed the so-called curse, but Lewis thinks the fact that the company has hired a record eight NFL endorsers is a sign they’re hedging their bets.

Lewis thinks it will more likely cause even more injuries and predicts that Hasselbeck is a “lock for an injury,” as is Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson and Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young.

Lewis thinks San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson might have the best chance of an injury-free regular season but predicts the curse will keep him from the playoffs.
