My Parents Went Through The Holocaust And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – As far as incendiary book titles go, it’s hard to top My Parents Went Through The Holocaust And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt (Seven Locks Press).

That’s the real title to a memoir written by S. Hanala Stadner, a Los Angeles-based fitness instructor whose parents were Holocaust survivors.

Stadner says the hardest part about having Holocaust survivors as parents was their inability to see things from her perspective.

As she puts it, “Adolph Hitler spoiled them for regular suffering. I remember my mom would say, ‘Hitler killed my whole family and you can’t make the bed?”’

She says that her parents’ past affected her in more ways than she can imagine. In her words, “Other parents read Cat In The Hat at bedtime. I got ‘Ants In The Camp.”’

Stadner says some people are offended by the title, but says her mom – who is now dead – thought it was funny.

Now, she hopes to see what Mel Gibson thinks of the book and is hopeful she can get him a copy because, she admits, “We both go to the same AA meetings.”
