According to Joanne Stoner, a fashion expert for edressmeprom.com, many teenage girls hope to step out at their proms in outfits inspired by the beady, glittering gowns worn by the female celebrities.
Stoner says that means that this years dresses are shorter than years past and have slits that allow more leg movement.
In her words, We used to see girls stand still in front of a mirror when they tried on a dress. Now they move around to see if they can dance in the outfit.
The show is also affecting tuxedo styles for high school guys. Stoner says, this year, they want tuxes that are more understated and higher-waisted and with less bling than years past.
