‘American Idol’ Cast-Off Wins Friendly Bet

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – American Idol cast-off Chris Sligh wasn’t sly about winning a bet to fellow contestant Phil Stacey.

Sligh – who was booted from the competition this past Wednesday (March 28) – sang his farewell song after being eliminated and turned to Stacey in mid-song and uttered, “You owe me 50 bucks.”

Sligh was referring to a bet he made with Stacey earlier that day about who would get voted off that night.

Says Sligh: “I knew I was going home and I told that to Phil, but he kept saying, ‘There’s no way you’re going home before me man.’ I won the bet and I have my 50 bucks!”

Sligh admits he didn’t think his “shout-out” to Stacey would make it onto the TV broadcast since Idol sometimes cuts out in the middle of farewell performances due to lack of air time.

He adds, “It’s funny that it did, cause he had to pay up.”

And while Sligh insists Idol contestants don’t usually bet on the show, he jokes they should start betting on how many times Ryan Seacrest cuts to commercial or how Sanjaya Malakar’s hair will be styled.
