‘Geek’ Sings ‘Star Wars’ Praises With Band

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Some Sci Fi geeks sing the praises of Star Wars, but one Beauty and the Geek reject sings his praises – literally.

‘Geek’ runner-up Nate Dern says his Star Wars tribute band, So Long Princess, has gotten so much buzz since he appeared on the reality show that it may even tour with Fall Out Boy this summer.

Dern finds inspiration from many of the characters in the original trilogy, but claims Max Rebo, the blue elephant-like alien in the famous cantina scene, is his favorite because they “connect on a musical level” unlike some of the other characters.

However, Dern has nothing bad to say about any Star Wars film, mainly because the series helped him land the spot on Geek.

Says Dern: “I was handing out flyers for the band when two people approached me with a flyer for Geek.

He continues: “It took me a minute to register that with my beard, trucker hat, Star Wars flyers and three different colors of plaid that they thought I was a geek but I’d much rather be a geek than a cool kid.”

A Beauty and the Geek recap show airs this Wednesday (Feb. 21) on the CW network.
