Portland Man Not Monkeying Around About Diet

PORTLAND, Ore. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – An overweight photographer in Portland, Oregon, isn’t monkeying around when it comes to losing weight.

But he is going ape.

Nicholas Beatty is so serious about saving primates that he has started a campaign to shed a hundred pounds by having people pledge money for every pound he loses.

Then he plans to donate all his earnings to the Oregon Primate Rescue organization, which specializes in monkeys with emotional and psychological problems.

So far, Beatty has gotten around $114 per pound in pledges and even had one of his old college professors donate $14 a pound to the cause.

Beatty considered eating a monkey-like diet to lose the weight but after consulting with Weight Watchers, he’s decided to stick with human food.

However, he isn’t against resorting to monkey pellets if he’s not losing enough weight by his March deadline.

Says Beatty: “It push comes to shove I’m willing to go primate for a good cause.”
