White Rappers Test Their Street Cred On New Reality Show

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Hip-hop is more than just about rapping, it’s about street credibility too.

That’s the word from Elliot Wilson, who has created a new show called The White Rapper Show premiering this Monday (Jan. 8) on VH1.

The show features 10 white wannabe rappers who move into a house in the South Bronx, New York, and compete in bizarre rap- oriented challenges for a $100,000 prize.

Says Wilson: “There’s a ‘Thug Challenge’ competition where the rappers go through an obstacle course through the hood and go on trial.”

Another task is to make a hardcore rap version of a nursery rhyme. However, Wilson was most surprised when none of the rappers could pass one particular test.

Says Wilson: “We played a hip-hop game show and asked them to identify songs by famous rappers and nobody knew any songs by Run-DMC. That was pretty ridiculous.”
