Lisa Marie Presley Struggles To Do It Her Way

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Being Elvis Presley’s daughter hasn’t been much help to Lisa Marie Presley’s career, and she says that’s alright, mama, that’s alright with her.

Presley admits her career as a singer-songwriter has been bumpy, in part because she’s found out the hard way she has to rely on her talents alone to be a success.

In her words, “I’ve collaborated with others in the past – I even did a version of ‘Heartbreaker’ with Pat Benatar... and tried to win over the audience when I first toured with Chris Isaak, but now I see I have to play my songs for my fans.”

She says she’s proud of the fact that she “doesn’t ride anyone’s coattails, or do Elvis covers, or do rap records” and she “doesn’t capitalize on anything to make her own way.”

She adds: “That, to me, is very gratifying.”

Presley is currently touring intimate venues across the U.S.
