Walsh says, luckily, hes never actually seen one of the fugitives covered on his show in public, although a suspect did attended one of his lectures in Baltimore.
However, others at the lecture identified the man quickly and he was arrested the next day.
Walsh says he wouldnt like running into any one of the nefarious types featured on his show, but if he does he promises he wont try to do a citizens arrest.
In his own words: Im not a vigilante.
Walsh is helping reduce crime hiw way, however: Yesterday (July 27), he was at the White House to witness President George W. Bush sign the Adam Walsh Child Protection And Safety Act, which is named for his late son, whose abduction and murder 25 years ago inspired Walsh to create the show.
One of the tenets of the act will be to ensure that all registered sex offenders be required to provide DNA samples.
Americas Most Wanted has its season premiere on September 9.
