One company bending over backwards to celebrate the cheeky month is the San Francisco-based sex toy shop Good Vibrations; spokesperson Jonathan Plotzker says they aspire to break down anal stereotypes through anal awareness.
Plotzker believes having a whole month dedicated to anal sex means people can be less touchy about bum-fun; although he admits many straight people back off the booty-banging talk because they dont want people to think theyre gay.
Plotzker offers one way to get over the taboo: I tell them to have their girlfriends give them a blow job as theyre putting their finger slowly in their butt so they get over their psychologic hang-ups.
He says another thing that holds people back from dearie dipping is a constant fear of pain.
Plotzker says pain is a legitimate concern, so couples should definitely take things at a comfortable pace.
He advises: You dont have to start right off with a fire plug - start with a simple finger.
