Smash Mouth Singer Suspects Sherman Hemsley Was High On ‘Surreal Life’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Sherman Hemsley doesn’t need to worry about moving on up because he is already high.

At least that’s the surreal claim of his Surreal Life castmate Steve Harwell.

The Smash Mouth singer says he enjoyed hanging out with the former Jeffersons star but suspects he might have been smoking pot because, as he puts it, “He ate the whole time” during the 12-day shoot, and always went “straight for the danishes.”

Hemsley isn’t the only celeb Harwell suspects of being high during the Surreal shoot.

He says he and his castmates have speculated that former sex kitten Tawny Kitaen was on something even though she refrained from using alcohol, and says “the truth came out” through her actions.

Although the producers desperately tried to create a party atmosphere by supplying lots of booze, Harwell says four out of the seven housemates – Kitaen, Hemsley, Poison guitarist C.C. DeVille and himself – didn’t sip a single drop of booze.

Despite Harwell’s drug allegations, he claims that “there was no animosity between anyone.”

In fact, he says being in the Surreal house “almost brainwashed” him and it was hard to leave even though he hasn’t had much contact with any of his co-stars since filming wrapped.
