New York Hillbillies In For A Wild St. Paddy’s Day Celebration

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If you’ve ever wondered how hillbillies celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, a self-professed “big city hick” can tell you exactly how they do it in New York.

This Friday (Mar. 17), comedian and singer Lindy Loo will be hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Hillbilly Hayride at a bar called Hank’s Saloon.

Of course there’s not enough space for a real hayride, but if someone wants one, Loo says organizers will “take a foldable wheelchair, put a little hay in it and Cousin Frankie will push ‘em around the block.”

She says the night will include a capella singing “kind of like in Irish bars;” a raffle for a Leprechaun doll she believes the crowd will go “mental” for; live country music accompanied by the “free instruments” – combs and wax paper – passed out to guests; and “a quick history of country and rockabilly” traced back to Ireland.

The Irish-themed evening will be rounded out by a Polish dance group’s performance. Loo admits, “We couldn’t get Riverdancers so they’re gonna do a ‘Riverklompf’ for us.”
