Thanksgiving Leftovers Make For A Great Skin Makeover

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – If your belly’s too full for Thanksgiving leftovers, a New York facialist says you can always use them for a Cranberry Sauce Mask or Turkey Fat Facials.

New York-based facialist Elena Schell says Thanksgiving leftovers can be great for your skin. For example, a mixture of turkey fat, oatmeal and egg yolks will help moisturize dry skin if left on the face for 15 minutes, as will mashed up sweet potatoes and sour cream.

For oily skin, she recommends equal parts cranberry sauce and honey. Schell admits someone might be tempted to lick the sweet mixture off your face, but says, “Usually you take it off with lukewarm water.”

Not all leftovers are helpful, though. She warns potato skins should not be used to exfoliate the skin and wish bones are not good for picking at blemishes because they’ll only irritate the face.

If you do have skin irritations, Schell says you can apply leftover red wine – which acts as an astringent – with a cotton ball.

Asked if it needs to be a good red wine, Schell jokes, “Yeah, it has to be French and 20 years old!”
