And youd be right.
But thats the point of a new lullaby CD called Infant Calm, that contains six tracks featuring common household appliances revving and humming through 10-minute tracks.
The snooze-inducing CD is the brainchild of former music industry exec Michael Preston, who came up with the idea after realizing that his daughter, Amber, fell to sleep the easiest when he turned on the oven fan or the hair dryer.
Carrying appliances around for naptimes was impractical so Preston decided to make a CD and spent hours experimenting with mics and angles in order to get the best sound quality possible.
Now that Infant Calm is getting good reviews from parents, Preston is considering a sequel and possibly a tour. However, he admits songs like Vacuum Cleaner Waltz and Washing Machine Purr are so good at putting people to sleep that we probably shouldnt be an opening act.
