Austrian Artists Offer A Date With Death

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – What are you dying to do for fun?

Well, there’s a group of performance artists from Austria who get their kicks burying people in coffins.

The asphyxiated Austrians call themselves Monochrom and host a traveling show called Experience The Experience of Being Buried Alive that gives audience members a chance to be buried in a coffin for 15 minutes.

However, Monochrom member Johannes Grenzfurthner insists there’s enough oxygen inside to support someone for hours.

While you might think getting buried alive would bore you to death, Grenzfurthner believes nothing could be more fun and romantic.

He brags that one couple in L.A. locked lips for the first time in their coffin and regrets not seeing their loving faces via Coffin Cam, but explains, “It’s really, really f***ing dark in there.”

Monochrom’s last U.S. burial takes place tonight (Jul. 8) at San Francisco’s Rx Gallery but the group will be doing other kinds of bizarre shows such as Experience The Experience Of Growing Money on July 14 and Experience The Experience Of Catapulting Wireless Devices on July 16.
