Writer and radio personality Steve Young is auctioning naming rights on eBay, hoping that someone or some company will pledge roughly $80 billion for the rights to attach their name to California and that it will bring the state out of debt.
The highest bidder will be able to put their logo on the state capital for a period of four years, but they would not have a right to control politics in any form.
Young says his first step is to find a bidder, and when he does, he says hell present the check to the states legislators.
He figures that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and other politicians wont turn down the money, but if they do, hes prepared to put the issue on a ballot and let the people decide if they want to get out of debt or not.
In his words, I bet it will win in a landslide.
