Man Plans To Eliminate California’s Debt by Selling The State’s Naming Rights

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One California man is taking it upon himself to get California into the black by selling product placement rights to the state.

Writer and radio personality Steve Young is auctioning naming rights on eBay, hoping that someone or some company will pledge roughly $80 billion for the rights to attach their name to California and that it will bring the state out of debt.

The highest bidder will be able to put their logo on the state capital for a period of four years, but they would not have a right to control politics in any form.

Young says his first step is to find a bidder, and when he does, he says he’ll present the check to the state’s legislators.

He figures that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and other politicians won’t turn down the money, but if they do, he’s prepared to put the issue on a ballot and let the people decide if they want to get out of debt or not.

In his words, “I bet it will win in a landslide.”
