Bono, Can You Spare A Dime?

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A Celtic musician has a question for the lead singer of U2: “Bono, can you spare a dime?”

Elizabeth Pendleton has issued a challenge to the charity- minded rock band frontman: Donate a dime from each U2 song downloaded online to his pet cause, African poverty relief.

Pendleton was inspired by U2’s 2001 concert in Los Angeles, when Bono asked the Hollywood movers and shakers in the audience to do something about the world’s problems.

Her solution was to donate ten cents from every one of her songs downloaded by a fan to a charity in Ireland that brings Catholic and Protestant schoolkids together in peace.

Pendleton thinks other musicians should follow her lead and figures Bono is the one to lead the way because of his charity involvement and connections.

Plus, as she says, “He has no problem asking governments to give their money to charity, so I don’t think it’s too much to ask him to donate some of his own money.”

Pendleton has yet to hear back from Bono, but has high hopes her plan will spread throughout the music industry.
