Interracial Wedding Toppers Really Take The Cake

COSTA MESA, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Getting married will soon be a sweeter experience for interracial and same-sex couples, thanks to two women in Costa Mesa, California, who make multicultural wedding cake toppers.

Rena Puebla and Ellie Genuardi have just started selling mix- and-match wedding cake toppers that come in Asian, Black, Latino and Caucasian ethnicities as well as woman-woman and man-man combinations.

Couples pick the toppers that best match their genetics or gender and there’s even a bride in a tailored skirt to represent women who are on their second or third wedding.

Puebla – who is African-American – says she was inspired to create the multicultural cake toppers a few years ago when she married an Asian man and only found toppers depicting white couples.

As you might expect, the cake toppers are especially popular with gay and lesbian couples looking for an appropriate image to top the cake but, so far, the most popular figurine is the one depicting the “Asian bride.”
