Los Angeles Man Suing Georgia’s ‘Runaway Bride’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Jennifer Wilbanks – the so-called “runaway bride” from Duluth, Georgia – may have to face more than a jilted fiance and angry bridesmaids: She may also face a lawsuit from a Los Angeles man she’s never met.

L.A. movie producer Richard Halpern is so angry at how many taxpayer dollars and government man-hours were wasted searching for Wilbanks that he’s organizing civil and class action lawsuits demanding she pay back every cent to local and federal agencies.

Halpern estimates the bill for Wilbanks’ wishy-washiness is at least $500,000 – and that isn’t counting pain and suffering for her fiance or the 14 bridesmaids who had to shell out money for their dresses.

He figures that any woman who can afford a 600-guest wedding probably has the resources to pay back the government.

Still, Halpern wants to make sure Wilbanks doesn’t get rich by selling her story to a Hollywood producer or the rights to her future wedding to a TV show. He says any money she earns going that route should be earmarked for “psychiatric counseling.”
