Help Arbor Day Go To Pot

VAN NUYS, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Today (Apr. 29) is officially Arbor Day and one marijuana activist is hoping to help the holiday go to pot.

Jack Herer suggests that environmentally conscious Americans spend the day planting marijuana seeds instead of trees because, as he puts it, “out of 3 million plants in the world, it’s the only one that grows from the equator to the arctic, on hills and plains, deserts and swamps.”

Sure, trees have their uses, but Herer says that the environment would be better served if paper was made from marijuana instead of trees because the wacky weed is more renewable.

Not only is the fabric and fiber from the wacky weed stronger than those made from petroleum, Herer claims hemp is one of the strongest building materials in the world.

Herer says a full-grown marijuana plant can provide shade on a hot day and says, when planted near a stream, prevents soil erosion.

But the most important reason for planting pot seeds on Arbor Day is medicinal. Herer claims there’s research showing that smoking marijuana “morning, noon and night” increases life expectancy by two years.
