Thats according to Reverend Paul Scott, a minister in Durham, North Carolina. He fears the VH1 reality series which features Flav romancing Brigette Nielsen is turning the former Public Enemy hype man into a coon act and, worse, a modern day minstrel show.
Scott admits Flav has always been wacky but says his work with Public Enemy helped raised the consciousness of a whole generation and, back then, there was a method to his madness.
Now Scott says Flav is a joke to white people and his wooing of Nielsen is nothing more than a hip hop version of Guess Whos Coming To Dinner? and a sad sign of arrested development where a black man is not allowed to grow up.
Scott is starting an internet campaign at petitiononline.com that he hopes will inspire Flav to free himself from what he calls the greatest tragedy to strike hip hop since the deaths of Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur.
